Russel Wright brought "good design for everyone" with his designs. The practicality of Casual China appealed to families with children - durable everyday china. Initially, a 3 year guarantee  was proof of the new process. 

Initially, Russel Wright experimented with glaze and kiln temperatures to produce color gradients and differences more akin to pottery. These first glazes are referred to as foamy or raindrop.
